This October, Dr Andrew “Andy” Grieve, veteran and Trek2Health Ambassador, will take on the grueling Kosci50 Ultra, running 50 kilometres across the alpine trails of Kosciuszko, in support of frontline workers battling mental health challenges.
Andy’s journey has been forged in service and resilience. Over 24 years, he served across three continents in remote medical, conflict, and disaster settings. Yet even the strongest warriors face battles unseen. After leaving the uniform, Andy confronted the silent strain of mental unrest – a journey that led him to Trek2Health, a Brisbane based charity dedicated to nature-based, evidence-informed support for frontline workers.
“Their philosophy aligns with my own values: healing through green exercise, connection, and purpose,” Andy says. “Trek2Health isn’t just a charity – it’s a lifeline for those who carry unseen burdens.”
The Kosci50 Ultra is no ordinary challenge: 50 km through snow gum forests, streams, and alpine climbs, with 1,300 metres of elevation gain. Andy will run each kilometre with a clear mission – to raise funds so every teacher, paramedic, nurse, officer, volunteer, and clinician can access tailored mental health programs.
Every dollar counts. Trek2Health’s programs combine physical challenge and psychological repair, measured outcomes, and early intervention to prevent burnout and moral injury. AU$1,000 raised supports one frontline worker through a six-week resilience program, turning isolation into connection and stress into renewal.
Every step Andy takes becomes a step towards hope for those who give so much.
