As you prepare for the Midnight to Dawn ANZAC Service Trek 2025, please review the important weather and preparation update below to ensure a safe, comfortable, and meaningful experience.
Weather Forecast – Showers Expected Overnight
Forecasts indicate light to moderate showers between 11:00 PM (24 April) and 5:30 AM (25 April), with overnight temperatures around 16°C–18°C and high humidity.
What You Must Bring:
- Breathable Waterproof Rain Jacket – Not a plastic poncho. Ponchos trap heat and moisture, making the walk uncomfortable. Please wear a proper rainproof hiking jacket.
- Footwear with Strong Grip – You’ll be walking on bitumen, trail, and descending steep fire roads. Trail runners or hiking boots with tread are essential. Flat-soled runners/sneakers are unsafe for this trek.
- Walking Poles – Strongly recommended, especially for steep downhill sections. They assist with balance, reduce impact, and provide extra confidence at night.
- Change of Clothes – After walking through showers and sections of mud, please bring a complete change of clothes (including dry socks and footwear) to change into for the drive home.
Fuel and Rest Tips: Today
- Lunch: Eat a carb-rich lunch today—pasta is ideal.
- Sleep: Aim for at least 4–6 hours of sleep/rest before arrival.
- Late dinner: More carb-rich food—again pasta is ideal or Chicken/Brown Rice with Steamed Veggies.
- Pre-Walk Snack: Eat a light energy snack before stepping off at midnight.

- Trek Start: 12:01 AM
