Walking For Health and Fitness
The Trek2Health Research Team has published a short article on walking — with practical tips and the reasons it helps, both physically and mentally. Excerpt:
“The benefits of walking are well known: improving cardiovascular health, increasing leg strength, preventing back pain, reducing diabetes risk, improving mood and mental health…. How much is usually interpreted by health professionals as 30 mins/day and of course this is beneficial but it ignores the question of how are you going to motivate to do this and it is only a consensus amount. In reality; any amount is worthwhile.”
Movement Is Powerful Medicine for Mental Health
Trek2Health is grounded in clear and growing evidence that movement is powerful medicine for mental health. Exercise – whether it’s walking up a hill, carrying a pack, or simply moving with purpose – can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. But what makes Trek2Health different is that we offer more than just exercise. Our programs give people the opportunity to reconnect with nature, with each other, and with themselves. This is not just fitness. It’s about rebuilding lives through meaningful action, restoring a sense of purpose, connection and confidence.
In 2025, participants genuinely embraced the new Foundation Module. We’ve had outstanding feedback about the structure, the clarity of direction, and how achievable it feels as the first step into Trek2Health. Many clients mentioned that it helped them rebuild confidence, reconnect with movement, and feel supported right from day one.
We’ve also seen real outcomes in participants’ wellbeing this year: reduced drinking, better family relationships, improved focus at work, and a renewed sense of purpose. These changes are happening for everyday frontline men and women who stepped into the program and found real change. This success sets a strong foundation for encouraging new applications into 2026.
Looking ahead, we’re expecting strong demand for 2026, especially with the positive word-of-mouth coming from both current and past participants. Trek2Health’s programs continue to operate at no cost to frontline personnel, ensuring finances are never a barrier to accessing support. Our goal isn’t just fitness. It’s helping people reconnect with their lives and community, combining the proven mental health benefits of exercise with something more powerful: nature, connection and meaning.
Our programs only exist because of the trust our community places in us. The 2026 intake continues that mission – real support, real change, delivered with care, as T2H builds the next generation of mental health support based on real-world evidence and practical impact.
