This July, Trek2Health Ambassador Dr Andrew Grieve will take on one of Queensland’s toughest endurance challenges — The Guzzler Ultra, a 100km ultramarathon through the mountains and bushland surrounding Brisbane — to raise funds for Trek2Health.
The Guzzler is far more than a long run. Covering 100 kilometres with approximately 4,500–5,000 metres of elevation gain, the course takes runners across steep fire trails, rocky singletrack, technical descents and relentless climbs. Many participants will be on course for close to an entire day, moving through cold overnight conditions, darkness, fatigue, sleep deprivation and the physical demands of sustained endurance.
To put the challenge in perspective, The Guzzler is effectively two marathons plus another 16 kilometres — on mountainous terrain, with thousands of metres of climbing. Competitors must manage not only running and power-hiking, but also hydration, nutrition, blister prevention, pacing and mental resilience from start to finish.
For Andy, taking on The Guzzler is about doing something difficult with purpose.
“It is good to do hard things in life and see what you are capable of,” Andy said.
By taking on this 100km challenge, Andy is helping raise vital funds for Trek2Health’s work supporting frontline personnel and veterans through nature-based resilience programs, physical challenge, connection and practical wellbeing support.
Every donation helps Trek2Health continue delivering programs that support those who serve our communities.
We invite you to get behind Andy as he takes on The Guzzler Ultra. Donate what you can, share his story and help us continue supporting frontline personnel on their path to strength, connection and resilience.
