Help us shape one of Australia’s most unique fundraising adventures.
Trek2Health is exploring the launch of The Great K’gari Walk, a proposed fully supported fundraising event on K’gari in June 2027.
Before committing to the significant planning and logistics required, we would love your feedback. Please read the event description below, then complete the short expression of interest survey.
About the Proposed Event
The proposed event would use a staggered-start format. Each participant would complete a five-day trek across the spectacular K’gari Great Walk, with small groups of around 7 people commencing each day over a 10-day event period.
This would limit the event to approximately 70 participants in total, creating a small-group, fully supported fundraising adventure.
Unlike a self-supported multi-day hike, Trek2Health would manage the key logistics. Camps would be set up for participants, overnight gear would be transported between camps, drinking water would be supplied, and safety, medical and support crew would be available throughout the trek.
What the Proposed Event Would Include
Participants would receive:
- Five-day managed trek across the K’gari Great Walk – 80 km
- Return transport between Rainbow Beach and K’gari, including barge costs
- Pre-erected camps each afternoon
- Personal overnight gear transported to each campsite, so participants only carry a day pack
- Fresh drinking water supplied daily
- Camp infrastructure including tents, shelters, tables and chairs
- Personal GPS tracking throughout the event
- Pre-trek cabin accommodation in Rainbow Beach and post-trek accommodation in Happy Valley
- Experienced Trek2Health support crew
- Qualified medical support
- Emergency response capability
- Daily safety briefings
- Finish celebration at Happy Valley
- Return transport to Rainbow Beach on completion
The event is being designed to deliver a premium, safe and professionally managed experience while raising vital funds for Trek2Health’s frontline mental health programs.
Proposed Participant Commitment
To participate, Trek2Health is considering an entry fee of $200–$300. In addition, each participant would be asked to support Trek2Health by either:
- Fundraising through family, friends, colleagues or networks; or
- Making a personal fundraising contribution.
Current fundraising targets being considered include:
- $1,000–$1,200
- $1,200–$1,500
- $1,500–$1,800
- More than $1,800
Funds raised would support Trek2Health’s programs for frontline personnel, veterans and emergency service workers.
Final entry fees, fundraising targets and payment details would be confirmed before registrations open.
Have Your Say
This survey will help Trek2Health understand whether there is enough interest to continue planning this event, and what entry fee, fundraising target and participation model would be realistic for supporters.
