Here’s an extra special video featuring our K’Gari trip from a few months ago.
Bruce Barker, our CEO writes about the experience…
I had the incredible privilege of leading a life-changing trek alongside five extraordinary individuals on the sacred lands of K’Gari (Fraser Island) — a place of breathtaking beauty and deep cultural significance. Inspired by our journey, I began writing this song in my head during our trek, weaving together the natural wonders we encountered, the wildlife, and the profound human connections we forged.
“Six Souls in Paradise” is the result of that creative journey — a tribute to the courage, trust, and resilience of our group, and a reflection of the rich experiences we shared. From the towering giants of the rainforest to the echoes of history in the sand, every verse captures the essence of K’Gari and the spirit of Trek2Health.
The name K’gari means “paradise” in the Butchulla language, the Indigenous language of the traditional custodians of the island. This name reflects the deep cultural and spiritual connection the Butchulla people have with the land, which they regard as a paradise both in its beauty and significance.
This song would not have been possible without the collaboration of a very talented friend who helped bring my words to life with the perfect musical style I was conversing. Together, we created something that speaks not only to our trek but also to the heart of Trek2Health’s mission: fostering strength, connection, and personal growth in the great outdoors.
To my fellow trekkers: you are amazing human beings. This song is dedicated to you and to the vital work we do together at Trek2Health. Let’s keep climbing mountains and making a difference, one step at a time.
