Veteran Dr Andy Grieve Takes on The Guzzler 100km for Frontline Mental Health

This July, Dr Andrew “Andy” Grieve will take on The Guzzler Ultra, a 100km ultramarathon through the mountains and bushland surrounding Brisbane, in support of Trek2Health.

For Andy, this is more than a race. It is a challenge of endurance, resilience and purpose — a way to raise support for the frontline personnel who carry heavy burdens in service of others.

Andy’s journey began in uniform. For 24 years, he served across three continents in some of the most hostile, austere and unpredictable environments in the world. He worked in remote medical settings, with special-forces units, in conflict zones and in disaster settings. He learned to operate under pressure, lead in difficult conditions and keep going when every part of the body and mind wants to stop.

But like many who serve, Andy also understands that the hardest battles are not always visible. That is why he continues to support Trek2Health and its mission to help frontline personnel rebuild strength, connection and resilience.

Sponsor Andy as he takes on the The Guzzler 100km to support mental health for frontline heroes.

All donations to this fundraiser support Trek2Health‘s services for Frontline personnel.

Choosing Trek2Health:

“This is the place we need”

Andy’s journey began in uniform. For 24 years, he served across three continents in some of the most hostile, austere and unpredictable environments in the world. He worked in remote medical settings, with special-forces units, in conflict zones and in disaster settings. He learned to operate under pressure, lead teams in difficult conditions and keep going when every part of the body and mind wants to stop. But like many who serve, Andy also came to understand that the hardest battles are not always visible. The transition from duty to civilian life can bring its own challenges — stress, isolation, self-doubt and the need to rebuild strength in a new way. That is why he is choosing to run for Trek2Health.

Why Your Support Matters

Trek2Health’s programs are not generic. They are tailored for those who serve—and often sacrifice. Their mechanisms are thoughtful:

  • Nature-based treks and resilience training, combining physical challenge and psychological repair.

  • Pre- and post-program evaluations, making sure each participant’s progress is real and measurable.

  • Support not just during crisis but before it escalates, breaking down stigma and promoting help-seeking early.

Your donation is not symbolic. Every AU$1,000 raised supports one frontline worker through the full 6-week resilience program. Every dollar moves someone from isolation into connection, from burnout into renewal.

When Andy crosses that finish line at Kosci50, it will not be an end—you and your generosity will be there with him. Every kilometre he runs is fuelled by the belief that those who give so much deserve to be cared for.

A call to run with us (in spirit or support)

We ask you: will you join this journey with Andy? Donate what you can. Share this story. Encourage others to give and support Trek2Health’s complimentary life-changing 12-month programs.

Because for our frontline families, there is no finish line in this fight. But together—with Andy as our champion Ambassador, Trek2Health as our vessel, and your heart as our strength—we can help heal the hidden wounds.
